Wales prop WillGriff John joins Racing 92 as World Cup joker

Racing 92 have confirmed the signing of Wales prop WillGriff John as a cover during the upcoming Rugby World Cup in France.

The 30-year-old began his playing career at Pontypridd and represented Wales at youth levels. He made his debut for Cardiff in 2011 and was part of the squad that won the European Challenge Cup in 2010.

John moved to New Zealand in 2013 and represented Northland in the ITM Cup before joining Championship side Doncaster in 2014. He was part of Premiership side Sale Sharks in 2017 before heading back to Wales where he was signed by Scarlets in 2021.

He also represented Wales U20s in the 2012 Junior World Championships and has two Test appearances for Wales under Wayne Pivac in 2021.

Racing 92 finished the Top 14 table in the 2022/23 season at fifth place with 14 wins from 26 matches.
