Barbarians Women side will face an international side for the first time when they head to Denver to take on USA Women’s Eagles.

The invitational women's side that was launched in 2017 will play the game at Infinitity Park in Glendale on 26th April. Following the game against USA Women's Eagles, Barbarians will lock horns against England at Twickenham on 2nd June.

Barbarian FC Chairman John Spencer expressed delight on the news that the composite team will head to USA for the first time since 43 years.

"The Barbarians launched their women’s team in 2017 to bring together talented players to play with the spirit of enjoyment and entertainment for which the club is famous,” said Spencer to the official website of the club.

"Taking on international opponents for the first time will be a landmark moment for the team and facing a side ranked No.5 in the world in the USA Women’s Eagles will be a marvellous challenge.

“It is wonderful to see the Barbarians return to the USA for the first time since 1976, when we played club sides on both the East and West coasts.

“That summer tour saw some of rugby’s greatest names — Phil Bennett and JJ Williams among them — involved and next month's team will include women’s players of a similar standing from around the globe.”

Meanwhile, USA Rugby General Manager for Women’s High Performance Emilie Bydwell said a high-performance training camp will be conducted with 51 players to decide on the matchday squad to face the Barbarians and the June series to follow.
