The Stormers ran a flurry of seven tries against the Rebels to secure a bonus point win during the Super Rugby clash in Melbourne on Saturday.

The win helped them to further consolidate their second place in the South African Group after amassing 41 points from 13 round-robin games.

Jean-Luc du Plessis was at the outset of Stormers' charge as the fly-half ended the match with a 27-point haul which comprised of a 20th minute try, five successful conversions and four penalty kicks.

Prop Vincent Koch (33), lock Eben Etzebeth (55), scrum-half Nic Groom (64), centre Damian de Allende (67), winger Damian Zas (74) and replacement hooker Siyabonga Ntubeni (80) scored the other six tries for the visitors.

In reply, the Rebels managed to score just four tries. Centre Sefanaia Naivalu (8), scrum-half Ben Meehan (15), winger Jonah Placid (51) and fly-half Jack Debreczeni (57) crossed over the try line for the home side.

Debreczeni successfully converted all four tries along with a penalty kick to bring his tally for the game to 16 points.

This defeat is Rebels' seventh in the season as they are positioned eighth in the Australasian Group with 27 points to their name.
