Francois Brummer scored three crucial penalties for the Bulls as they managed to overcome Stormers challenge with a 17-13 win in the Super Rugby fixture at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

The fly-half successfully kicked nine out of the 17 points for the Pretoria side as coach Nollis Marais' men secured a narrow four-point victory.

The scales were pretty much balanced at the half-time whistle with each side scoring a couple of penalties.

Bulls scrum-half Piet van Zyl crossed over for the first try of the game on the 46th minute whereas Brummer added another penalty to his tally on the 51st minute thus increase their lead to eight points.

However, Stormers centre Damian de Allende brought his side back into the game with a 67th minute try. Fly-half Jean-Luc du Plessis added the extras as the deficit was reduced down to just one point.

Replacement fly-half Tiaan Schoeman scored the deciding drop goal in the 74th minute as Bulls increased their lead to four points with six minutes left on the clock.

Stormers failed to score any further as the Bulls escaped with a narrow win.

This result has helped Bulls to topple Stormers from the top position in the Africa Conference 1 table with both teams having gathered 32 points from 11 matches.
