Scarlets 22-21 Toulon, Parc y Scarlets
Scorecard

Wales international Leigh Halfpenny missed a last minute penalty for Toulon as Scarlets held their nerve to register a 22-21 victory in their European Champions Cup clash at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday.

Even though, Halpenny scored seven penalties, he also missed out on four which included the decisive last minute kick which went wide of the post.

A double penalty from Scarlets fly-half Rhys Patchell spread on either side of centre Scott Williams' try helped the home team get to a 13-point lead.

After Patchell exchanged a penalty with Halfpenny the Toulon fullback kicked two more three-pointers as they went into half time trailing by nine points.

The second half saw stiff competition from both Patchell and Halpenny as they exchanged two penalties each and the lead remained intact for Scarlets.

The second set of penalties came after Toulon's Florian Fresia was sin-binned in the 55th minute for lifting Aaron Shingler's head at a maul.

Two more penalties from Halpenny saw the gap reduced down to one-point and Toulon had a chance to secure the win but they were forced to leave the field with disappointment when the fullback missed the decisive final penalty.
