Scarlets 30-17 Cardiff Blues, Parc y Scarlets

Scarlets managed to overcome a second-half resistance from Cardiff Blues as they completed a 30-17 win in their Pro 14 encounter at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday.

Leigh Halfpenny kicked an early penalty to set the tone for the Scarlets but the equaliser came from Jarrod Evans four minutes later.

The remainder of the first half was completely dominated by the home side as Hadleigh Parkes (6') and Ryan Elias (32') crossed over with Halfpenny kicking a penalty and a conversion to take the Scarlets to an 18-3 lead at half time.

Despite an uphill task the Blues showed a lot of resilience in the third quarter where Willis Halaholo and replacement Lloyd Williams went past the line to bring down the gap between the two teams to just one point.

However, just as Blues were turning the screw the momentum changed dramatically from the restart as replacement Jonathan Evans latched on to Steffan Evans' angled kick through.

With 10 minutes left Steffan Evans crossed for the bonus-point try after a period of pressure on the Blues' line.

The win has taken Scarlets back to the top position in Conference B while the Blues languish at the bottom of Conference A.
