Leicester Tigers have announced the signing of Scarlets fullback Clayton Blommetjies on loan for the remainder of the season.

Blommetjies made his professional rugby debut with Blue Bulls in 2010 and switched to Cheetahs in 2014 before going on to make his first appearance for Scarlets in 2018.

The 28-year-old will now provide injury cover to the Welford Road outfit as they aim to avoid relegation in the ongoing Gallagher Premiership after they are positioned 10th with 34 points - just five more than bottom placed Newcastle Falcons.

I think I will fit in nicely at Leicester Tigers," he told Leicester Tigers TV.

"I will do my best and give 100% in everything I do for the rest of the season."

Leicester Tigers head coach Geordan Murphy is delighted to have the services of Blommetjies for the remainder of the season.

“Injuries have stretched us with Mathew Tait’s retirement and the long-term absence of Adam Thompstone and Telusa Veainu so we’ve been looking to add to our options in the back three and we’re happy that Clayton has come in to join that group.”

Leicester Tigers are set to take on Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park on 13th April in the 19th round of the Gallagher Premiership.
