Samu Kerevi scored a double including the decisive try in the 78th minute as Reds managed to defeat Rebels by 24-29 in their Super Rugby clash at AAMI Park on Saturday.

Kerevi got Reds off the mark with a touchdown in the fifth minute while Reece Hodge scored penalties on either side to give a slender one point lead for Rebels.

A yellow card to fullback Karmichael Hunt did not hamper Reds as Eto Nabuli and Stephen Moore strolled past the post to take the visitors to 17 points while Hodge's third penalty at the stroke of half time saw Rebels reduce the trail to eight points.

The difference further came down to five points as Hodge kicked his fourth three pointer at the start of the second half but Scott Higginbotham secured the bonus point with for Reds with a 48th minute cross over.

Just as the game was running away from Rebels, Will Miller and Marika Koroibete scored tries to level the scores 24-24.

As the game was heading for a tight finish with all three results possible, Kerevi just swung the result in favour of Reds with his second try that came in the 78th minute. Reds are second in Australian Conference while Rebels languish at the bottom.
