Scorecard

Jordie Barrett contributed with 14 points as a dominant second half performance from Hurricanes saw them defeat Queensland Reds by 15-34 in their Super Rugby clash at Suncorp Stadium.

After the first 10 minutes went without a point, wing Julian Savea and TJ Perenara crossed over in the 14th and 17th minutes respectively while fullback Jordie added conversions on both the occasions to take a 14 point lead for Hurricanes.

The visitors suffered a setback when they lost centre Ngani Laumape temporarily when he was sin-binned in the 23rd minute which Chris Kuridrani capitalised with a touchdown in the 28th minute.

Number eight Scott Higginbotham helped Hurricanes cut down the gap to two points at half time when he strolled past the post in the 34th minute and Jake McIntyre adding the extras.

Wing Vince Aso stretched the lead to seven points with an early try in the second half but it was the final 10 minutes that blew Reds out of the game followed by a conversion each from Barrett brothers - Jordie and Beauden. The 19 point win has taken Hurricanes to third position in New Zealand Conference while Reds suffered their fifth consecutive defeat and are placed third in Australian Group.
