Sale Sharks have confirmed their ninth signing for the next season as Tonga prop Halani Aulika will join the Premiership side from London Irish.

The 32-year-old joined the Exiles in 2012 and has represented the club 81 times and went on to score 115 points which includes 23 tries.

Aulika decision to switch to Sale comes after the London Irish club faced a relegation in the 2015-16 season after they ended last with 20 points from 22 games.

Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond believes the club will benefit from Aulika's signing.

"I have been watching Aulika all season and when his agent got in touch I didn't hesitate in signing him," said Diamond to salesharks.com.

"He is a great scrummager and puts himself about on the pitch.

"I am sure he will be a big asset for us next season and beyond."

Meanwhile, Aulika thanked the London Irish club for the support he had received over the years and wished them all success for the future.

“I have loved my time at London Irish and I’m very thankful for the support I have received.

“I would like to thank the supporters for all they have done for me over the last four years and I wish the Club well for the future.”

Having secured a sixth-place in the Premiership table for 2015-16, Sale Sharks managed to qualify for the next season's European Champions Cup.
