Rugby Australia chief executive Raelene Castle has confirmed that the board will not initiate any action against Lukhan Tui or the fan following a recent altercation that took place at the end of the Rugby Championship game in Gold Coast.

The game which saw Pumas complete a 19-23 win over the Wallabies - which was also their first victory over Australia since 1983 was running high on emotions and when the players mingled with the spectators at the conclusion of the encounter it was reported that the fan began to abuse Australian players and even was seen pushing Tui's sister.

The 21-year-old already had a tough week losing his step father and the incident further triggered Tui as he was involved in a scuffle with the fan before the latter was eventually removed.

“Wallabies team management have been in dialogue with Lukhan since the incident and he has indicated that he does not wish to pursue the matter any further,” said Castle.

“Therefore no further action will be taken by Rugby Australia.

“This incident was not something you want to see at any sporting event,” she added.

“Emotions were running high after the match on Saturday night and I understand why Wallabies fans are frustrated after a result like that.”

Earlier, Australia head coach Michael Cheika said that Tui wanted time-off from the game for the remainder of the year following the incident.

Australia are currently languishing at the bottom of the Rugby Championship table with a solitary win and are set to face South Africa next in Port Elizabeth on 29th September.
