Northampton Saints have announced the signing of Edinburgh hooker Tom Cruse until end of the 2022/23 season.

Cruse started his professional rugby career with Sale Sharks in 2012 and also featured for Rotherham Titans and London Irish before heading to Wasps in 2016.

The 33-year-old made 114 appearances and scored 21 tries for Wasps before the Coventry based club went into administration last year.

Even though he signed a short-term deal with Edinburgh following his exit from Wasps, Cruse now has returned back to the Premiership after signing a contract with the Saints.

“Tom will bring a huge amount of experience and quality to our group, so we’re delighted to have him on board,” said Saints’ Director of Rugby, Phil Dowson.

“He’s a tough player and very consistent in the set-piece area as well.

“I always enjoyed watching him play for Wasps so I am confident he will make an important contribution in Black, Green and Gold for the remainder of the season.”

Northampton are positioned sixth in the Gallagher Premiership table with five wins from 12 matches.
