Northampton Saints have announced the signing of former England Under 20 international Fin Smith with immediate effect.

Smith started playing rugby at local club Shipston-on-Stour and Warwick School prior to joining the Worcester Warriors academy.

At the age of 18 years and 313 days, Smith became the youngest-ever player to start for Warriors in the Gallagher Premiership in March 2021 and overall has made 31 senior appearances for the club.

He was part of the England Under 20 squad that clinched the Grand Slam in the 2021 Six Nations in Cardiff in which he scored 31 points in five matches.

Smith was part of the Warriors side that won last season's Premiership Rugby Cup final against London Irish and now will head to Franklin's Gardens after his contract was terminated due to the suspension of Worcester for the remainder of the season.

I’m really excited to sign on with Northampton Saints – a Club with a long history of success, and a very talented coaching group who encourage the squad to express themselves and play a fantastic brand of rugby," he told the club's official website.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play a couple of matches at Franklin’s Gardens already, and the atmosphere around the ground is always electric – and the pitch is flawless. I can’t wait to compete for the opportunity to run out there week in, week out.

“Speaking to the Club’s coaches, the ambition for this group of players is huge, and it’s clear to me that there’s a great environment to develop as a player at Saints.”
