Fiji legend Nemani Nadolo has announced that he will be retiring from professional rugby at the end of the 2023 season.

Nadolo started his career with Australia Under 20 side and moved allegiance to Fiji making their Test debut in 2010. Overall, he has featured in 32 Tests for Fiji before announcing retirement from international rugby at the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The 35-year-old played for Bourgoin and Exeter Chiefs in the early part of his career and also represented Japanese club NEC Green Rockets between 2011 and 2015.

Having switched to Montpellier and Leicester Tigers later on, he is now part of Super Rugby for the second time after signing a deal with New South Wales Waratahs. He also played for Crusaders between 2014 and 2016.

“I’ve had a lot of highs and a lot of lows during my time. I’ve travelled the world from Japan, France, UK, and New Zealand," Nadolo conveyed through his Instagram account.

“Moving home to Australia with my young family and an my aging legs I knew it was time to consider whats best for me and my future. It’s the question we all face as professional athletes, “what’s next”. As one chapter in my life comes to an end another begins.

“I wish to thank the NSW Waratahs for bringing me home, it was always my dream to retire on home soil in front of my friends and family.

“For now the season must go on, and I look forward to finishing this season with my amazing teammates. Thank you to everyone for all the support over the years, you are the reason why we do what we do, God Bless.”
