Northampton 46-17 Harlequins, Cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens

Northampton Saints ran a six-try riot as they trounced Harlequins 46-17 in the 14th round of the Gallagher Premiership at Cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens on Sunday.

Northampton are positioned fifth in the Gallagher Premiership table with five wins from 11 matches while Harlequins are at third place.

Northampton made a head start to the game as from a resulting line out David Ribbans and Matt Proctor combined to send Alex Waller over the line and Fin Smith kicked the conversion.

They doubled their tally in the 16th minute as Smith pushed the ball wide for James Ramm to dive over in the 17th minute. Smith was once again spot on with the conversion to make it 14-0 before Tommaso Allan got the visitors off the mark with a 22nd minute penalty goal.

As the break was approaching, Ramm completed his second after collecting a grubber kick from Tommy Freeman but Smith missed out on the conversion as Northampton completed the opening half with a 19-3 lead.

Saints also lost Smith at the start of the second half as he left the field for a Head Injury Assessment and immediately he made an impact as he kicked a three-pointer to stretch the lead to 22-3.

The Quins were down to 14 players temporarily with Alex Dombrandt sin-binned following a ruck infringement. A second three-pointer from Furbank stretched the home side's lead to 22 points.

With Quins still down a man, Northampton scored another very well worked try after kicking a penalty into the corner; quick ball and hard carrying saw Luklan Salakaia-Loto diving over to claim the bonus point with Furbank improving to make it 32-3.

The first try for the visitors came in the 66th minute as Dombrandt offloaded to Jordan Els over the line but his effort was negated when Furbank dotted down after good work from Ribbans and Hutchinson. The closing stages of the game saw Hutchinson and Nick David exchange tries as the Saints completed a 46-17 victory.
