England Women 52-14 USA Women, Sandy Park

England Women ran eight try riot as they trounced their USA counterpart with a 52-14 margin at Sandy Park stepping up their preparations for the Rugby World Cup next month.

This is also the 24th consecutive win for the red rose team and it came after they secured a commanding 33-0 lead in the opening half.

England had a dominating start to the game as Poppy Cleall threw a pass for scrum half Natasha Hunt to score but the conversion went wide. Emily Scarratt made amends in the second attempt after Claudia MacDonald set up Jess Breach for her 28th international try as they raced to a 12-0 lead in the opening exchanges.

The end of the opening quarter saw England looking threatening but Joanna Kitlinski got her hand under the ball as the home side look to drive in at the end of a rolling maul at the end of which Hallie Taufoou was sin-binned for entering from the side.

With the numerical advantage on their side, Amy Cokayne dived over the end of the rolling maul to secure their third try in the 22nd minute and the scoreline became 26-0 around the half hour mark with MacDonald running wide and soon Breach completed her second as Simon Middleton's side completed the opening half scoring 33 unanswered points.

USA missed a chance before the break as Cantorna's penalty goal went wide but England pressed on their dominance as MacDonald dotted down in the 51st minute and five minutes later Cokayne finished her second try to make it 45-0.

The first points from the visitors came in the 67th minute as Hope Rogers touched down after good work from winger Jennine Detiveaux. England suffered late setbacks with Shaunagh Brown and Helena Rowland sin-binned in the 67th and 71st minutes respectively with the second also resulting in a penalty try for USA but despite that Harrison's kick sent Kildunne over to take the red rose team past the 50-point mark.
