England Women 52-10 Scotland Women

England Women came up with a eight-try performance as they trounced Scotland 52-10 in the opening game of Women's Six Nations tournament.

It took England just 10 minutes to score the opening try as Marlie Packer dived from close range after good work from Poppy Cleall and Bryony Cleall. Emily Scarratt kicked the conversion as they raced to a 7-0 lead.

England stretched their lead further as Leanne Riley touched down at the back of a five-metre ruck but this time the conversion from Scarratt went wide.

Scotland finally responded in the 24th minute through a penalty kick from Helen Nelson but the red rose extended their lead further when Lark Davies crossed over at the back of a driving maul and they went on to claim the bonus point by the 35th minute as Bryony Cleall dotted down after collecting an offload from her twin sister Poppy.

With Scotland reduced to 14 players temporarily just before the break following a sin-bin to Lisa Thomson, Jess Breach after collecting a pass from Helena Rowland to crossover as England finished the opening half with a 33-3 lead.

England looked relentless in their attack as they were quick to get off the block in the second half with this time Breach going past a couple of tackles to set up Rowland over that Scarratt improved making the scoreline 40-3.

England's momentum was hampered a bit when Cleall was sin-binned in the 52nd minute and Scotland increased their tally as Hannah Smith burrowed over after a Mairi McDonald break and Helen Nelson improved making it 40-10.

Scotland were down to 14 players by the 64th minute after Molly Wright, who came off the bench in the 60th minute was sent off in the 64th minute for a dangerous tackle and this time Poppy Cleall went over at the back of a driving maul making it 45-10.

As the closing stage of the game was approaching, Scotland lost another player with this time Louise McMillan sin-binned in the 78th minute that also resulted in a penalty try for England as they completed a convincing 52-10 win.
