London Irish hooker Agustin Creevy has been handed a four-week suspension following his red card incident in the recently concluded Heineken Champions Cup clash against Montpellier.

Creevy was sent-off for a dangerous tackle on Montpellier full-back Anthony Bouthier during the 33rd minute of the game which saw the French side went on to win 32-27.

Having appeared before an independent disciplinary committee, Creevy accepted the foul play but contested against the red card decision.

Nevertheless the panel deemed that the red card was warranted and handed him a four game ban.

"The committee upheld the red card decision, finding that, in executing the tackle in a dangerous manner, Creevy had made contact with Bouthier's head," the EPCR said.

Creevy will now miss Irish's Champions Cup match with Stormers, Premiership games against Saracens and Gloucester along with Premiership Rugby Cup tie with Bath.

He will be available for the Bath fixture though if he completes a World Rugby coaching intervention programme.
