Bristol Bears have announced that England and British and Irish Lions prop Kyle Sinckler has signed a one-year contract extension with the Gallagher Premiership club until the end of 2023/24 season.

A product of the Harlequins Academy, Sinckler made his club debut in 2011 and racked up 138 appearances for the club. During his time with the Quins, the 29-year-old also had loan stints with Richmond and Ealing.

He made a switch to Bristol in 2020 and featured for them in 38 games. He was also part of the squad that reached the Premiership play-off semi-finals in 2021.

“It was an easy decision for me to stay at Bristol and I feel like I’ve got unfinished business here. I’m excited for what’s to come from this group and feel very blessed to play for a club with such incredible supporters.”

Having played for England at the Under 18, Under 19 and Under 20 sides, Sinckler made his Test debut in 2016 and has played in 52 Tests. He was also part of the British and Irish Lions squad for the 2017 and 2021 tours of New Zealand and South Africa respectively.

“It’s fantastic for the Bears to retain someone of Kyle’s calibre. For him to re-sign with the Bears is a huge positive for the club," said Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam.

“He is an outstanding professional with a wealth of experience in a crucial position and has added real value on and off the field for us. I’m pleased for everyone at the Bears that he will continue to contribute to our journey.”

Bristol are positioned seventh in the Gallagher Premiership table with three wins from six matches.
