Will Jordan and Braydon Ennor scored double as Crusaders got their Super Rugby campaign with a 43-25 win at Trafalgar Park on Saturday.

The opening 13 minutes saw David Havili and Will Harrison trade penalties as the teams were levelled. Crusaders stepped up the gears with Will Jordan, Braydon Ennor and Leicester Fainga'anuku scoring tries in the 16th, 26th and 35th minutes respectively.

Havili kicked conversions on all the three occasions as the teams finished the first half with a 24-6 scoreline.

Waratahs got back into the game with tries from Mark Nawaqanitawase in the 54th and 58th minutes reducing the gap down to six points.

The defending champions ensured there was no slipping back this time with second tries in the game from Ennor and Jordan making the scoreline 36-18 before Luke Romano's touchdown in the 75th minute increased Crusaders lead to 25 points.

A consolation try from Alex Newsome in the 76th minute took Waratahs' tally to 25 points but that could not prevent them from losing the game by 18 points.
