Samoa centre Johnny Leota was cited by the Rugby Football Union following the dangerous tackle he made while playing for his club Sale Sharks in the Aviva Premiership game against Bath on Friday.

The 32-year-old's tackle off the ball on Bath wing Aled Brew in the closing stage of the game attracted him a yellow card and he is now set to face a RFU disciplinary panel which comprises of Anthony Davies, John Greenwood and Adrian Senn in Haydock on Tuesday.

Sale Sharks succumbed to a 30-3 defeat to Todd Blackadder's men at Ricoh Arena which saw them slip to the seventh place in the Aviva Premiership table.

If the charges are proved, Leota will miss the upcoming Champions Cup opener for Sale Sharks against Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets on 15th October.
