Leinster fly-half Joey Carbery is in line to make his debut for Ireland after he was named on the bench for the clash against New Zealand in Chicago on Saturday.

New Zealand's last defeat came against Australia in August 2015 and since then they have been on a 18-match unbeaten streak.

The 20-year-old Carbery, who is currently in the second year of the Leinster Rugby Academy will be the most likely replacement to Jonny Sexton after Ulster fly-half Paddy Jackson decided to pull out of the game due to personal reasons.

A statement released by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) confirmed that Sean O'Brien, Iain Henderson and Peter O'Mahony along with Jackson will miss the Chicago trip.

"Players returning to full fitness Sean O'Brien, Iain Henderson and Peter O'Mahony along with Paddy Jackson, unavailable due to personal reasons, will not make the trip to Chicago," the statement said.

The inclusion of Carbery in the squad came after former Leinster fly-half Ian Madigan decided to move to France to play for the Bordeaux Bègles.

In their November Tests, Ireland will take on New Zealand two times while also locking horns with Canada and Australia.
