Bath have announced that back row Jaco Coetzee has signed a one-year contract extension with the Gallagher Premiership club.

Coetzee spent most of his youth career with Sharks and Western Province before making his senior debut with Stormers in 2017.

The 27-year-old joined Bath Rugby ahead of the 2021/22 season and has made 30 appearances for the club. His contract was originally set to expire at the end of the ongoing season but now will remain with the club until the end of 2024/25 season.

“I’m really happy to be staying at the club for another year," he told the club's official website.

"It’s been great to come back from a long spell on the sidelines last season to playing some of my best rugby yet.

“We’re heading in such an exciting direction as a group so it’s great to be part of that under Johann.”

Bath Head of Rugby Johan Van Graan was delighted with the news of Coetzee remaining with the club at least until the end of the next season.

“Jaco is a true ball carrier. I love to have ball carriers in my team and Jaco is one of them. He’s had an exceptional season and I hope he has a brilliant future with Bath Rugby.”
