Bath Rugby have announced the signing of South African flanker Jacques du Plessis for the remainder of the ongoing season.

The 30-year-old has headed to the Recreation Ground based side after recovering from his injury and receiving clearance from club's medical team. He has been given an option to extend the contract for the 2024/25 season.

The 30-year-old made his senior debut with Bulls in 2013. He had a stint with Montpellier making over 100 appearances for them before rejoining Bulls in 2021. He also had represented South Africa Schools and South Africa Under 20 sides in the past.

“I am excited that Jacques has joined our journey here at Bath Rugby. Credit to both the player and our medical and physical performance teams for the work they have put in to get Jacques not only playing but also performing," he told the club's official website.

"I also want to express my thanks to the Bulls in South Africa for their co-operation to enable this to happen. His quick fit into our system is also credit to the work of his former team’s medical unit. I can’t wait to see Jacques in the Blue, Black and White.”
