Hill to captain Wales against Argentina

Warren Gatland has made eight changes from Wales' 22-20 win over South Africa

Cory Hill will captain Wales for the first time when they take on Argentina in San Juan on Saturday evening.

Warren Gatland has made eight changes from the side that beat South Africa in Washington DC last weekend and Hill will take over the armband duties from Ellis Jenkins.

Jenkins, who was awarded man of the match last Saturday, has been replaced by Scarlets’ James Davies who will take his place in the back row with Seb Davies and Ross Moriarty.

Wales welcome back Josh Adams into the team after the Premiership blocked the Worcester player from playing against the Springboks, but he will start alongside Hallam Amos and George North – who returns to the wing.

Gatland’s rotation sees Rhys Patchell come in at fly-half for Gareth Anscombe whilst club team-mates Gareth Davies, Hadleigh Parks and Scott Williams also start.

Elsewhere, Wyn Jones will take his place alongside Elliot Dee and Dillion Lewis in the front row with Adam Beard completing the Welsh forwards.

As for Argentina, they have handed a debut to winger Bautista Delguy in a team led by veteran Agustin Creevey.

The Pumas also include fly-half Nicolas Sanchez while Pablo Matera is back from injury at blind-side flanker as the hosts look to use the Jaguars’ good form in Super Rugby as a platform for success against Wales.

Wales’ Warren Gatland: "We have made a number of changes for Saturday as we want to give as much opportunity to the squad as possible during this campaign.”

"There is a lot of exciting youth in this squad and Saturday is a chance for them to continue building their experience on the Test scene and to put a marker down."

After the first Test at Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario, Wales travel to Santa Fe and the Brigadier General Estanislao Stadium.

Argentina: Boffelli; Delguy, Orlando, Fuente, Moyano; Sanchez, Bertranou; Botta, Creevey (capt), Chaparro, Petti, Lavanini, Matera, Kremer, Desio.
