For Harlequins the 2014/15 season marks the start of a new relationship with the world leading brand Adidas after securing their sponsorship for the next three years.

Adidas' credentials are hugely impressive; they sponsor a host of top players including Leigh Halfpenny, Ma’a Nonu and Dan Carter. For team perspective Adidas are responsible, amongst others, for the British and Irish Lions, New Zealand, France, Italy and Stade Francais.

Last week at the Surrey Sports Park the Harlequins squad received their new kit and today Adidas revealed it on their UK Twitter account (@AdidasUK) with their lead message “Evolution of an icon”.

The historic Harlequins’ quarters remain intact however they now have a more polished and modern look. The away kit pushes the boundaries slightly more as it combines retro red shorts with a chequered patterned top and was a particular favourite of Quins back rower Jack Clifford who described it to us as ‘awesome’.

Speaking to Ugo Moyne he explained just how significant this relationship is for the club; ‘Adidas is one of the biggest sports brand globally and that matches our ambitions on the pitch. If you look good, then you feel good, it is important! We are all very proud of it and can’t wait to get the season started.’

Harlequins have great ambitions for the 2014/15 season; their desire is to lead the way in the Aviva Premiership and to compete strongly on the European stage in the new European Champions Cup. Conor O’Shea is confident that his side will be ready, a huge number of young players had to step up to the mark last season due to injuries and the squad is now much stronger for that as well as bringing in some new players. Consistent performances can never be guaranteed in professional rugby however one thing’s for sure and that is that Harlequins will look sharper than ever before in their new Adidas kit.
