Leicester Tigers' campaign in the ongoing Aviva Premiership has been boosted by the return of Mike Fitzgerald and Mike Williams.

Both Fitzgerald and Williams joined Leicester Tigers in the 2015-16 season and have recovered from their respective injuries which kept them out of the pre-season games as well as the Aviva Premiership opener against Gloucester Rugby.

Fitzgerald joined Leicester in April 2015 and suffered a broken bone in his hand before making 25 appearances for the club while lock Williams has played nine games before sustaining a broken arm.

Director of rugby at Leicester Richard Cockerill is excited by the return of the duo which, according to him will provide a greater flexibility to the squad.

"Mike Williams brings physicality to the game," said Cockerill.

"He will carry the ball very hard and if he catches you with the ball he will hit you very hard.

"Mike Fitzgerald was probably our most consistent player last year and does everything very well. He's a good pro and cares about whatever he does.

"Whether he is at No.6 or lock he was one of our best players. It is great to have them back in the mix and gives us real depth with the back rowers we have and the locks we have."

After starting their Aviva Premiership campaign with a bonus point victory over Gloucester, Leicester will take on Wasps next at Welford Road on 10th September.
