England head coach Eddie Jones has hired services of fellow Australian Glen Ella as skills coach for the upcoming month's three-Test tour against Australia.

England rugby announced Ella's appointment for games in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

He has been entrusted with responsibilities to improve England's attacking play along with lending his expertise in backs skills coaching.

Ella, the former full-back, featured for Australia between 1982 and 1985. He earned four caps after making his debut against Scotland at Ballymore Stadium.

Ella also worked as an assistant coach for the Wallabies during the 1995 and 2003 World Cup campaigns under Bob Dwyer and Jones.

Jones expressed his satisfaction at the wealth of experience Ella will bring to the team. He also asserted the need for England to improve their attack play strategies.

"We are very happy that Glen will be joining up with us out in Australia.

"Glen has coached rugby all around the world, and not only brings with him a wealth of experience, but also has one of the best attacking minds in the business.

"Working alongside myself and the rest of the coaching team, Glen will assist me in developing our attack play strategies and also provide some specialist backs skills coaching.

"It's an area we know we need to improve, and I am sure we will benefit greatly from having Glen on board for the tour."

Ella said he was delighted to be working with Jones who is taking England in the 'right direction'.

"I am delighted to be teaming up with Eddie again and working alongside the rest of the coaching staff.

"Eddie's got England moving in the right direction, but there's still a lot of work to be done, particularly in attack. I am looking forward to being involved in an exciting series of Test rugby."

Jones is about to announce his team for the tour in a fortnight's time as England head to Australia subsequent to their recent Six Nations title conquest and their first Grand Slam in 13 years.
