France Women 19 - 36 Canada Women

Canada Women registered their maiden win in the ongoing Super Series as they defeated France 19-36 at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

Sophie de Goede started the proceedings with a second-minute penalty but France responded back strong with a try from Safi N’Diaye in the 5th minute and Emma Coudert followed with the conversion to make it 7-3.

Canada pressed on the attack and it was Tyson Beukeboom, who was rewarded for her effort with a try in the ninth minute but her efforts were cancelled out by scrum-half Laure Sansus in the 14th minute at the end of which the scoreline was 12-10.

Just as the half-time was approaching, Janna Slevinsky touched down that was improved by De Goede as Canada had a 12-17 lead at the end of the first half.

Canada extended the momentum into the second half with Sabrina Poulin dotting down in the right corner but De Goede missed out on the conversion.

The scoreline continued to remain 12-22 until the 57th minute when Russell scored a try for Canada but that was cancelled out by a converted try from Women's 15 Player of the Year Jessy Trémoulière to make it 19-29 with 16 minutes left in the game.

Just as the full-time was approaching, Amanda Thornborough capped off a fantastic game for Canada with a try on her 29th birthday to complete a 19-36 win despite playing with 14 players in the final 10 minutes with Ngalula Fuamba sin-binned.
