Bulls have announced Pote Human as the new head coach of the Super Rugby club ahead of the 2019 season.

Human will take over the role from John Mitchell, who was named the defence coach of England under Eddie Jones.

The 59-year-old has previously worked as forwards coach of Bulls between 2005 and 2008 and has been linked with Currie Cup side Blue Bulls.

Human was appointed forwards coach of Blue Bulls in 2017 before taking in charge as head coach a year later.

Earlier, it was reported that former South Africa international Victor Matfield was approached for the head coach role but the opportunity was turned by the 41-year-old.

Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed Alan Zondagh as the new director of rugby after he had signed a three-year deal with the Pretoria outfit.
