Brumbies remained at the top of the Australian Conference as they went on to defeat Waratahs 24-35 in their Super Rugby encounter at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday.

Bernard Foley started the proceedings with a 11th minute penalty goal but Brumbies dominated the remainder of the first half with tries from Rory Arnold (15'), Andy Muirhead (19'), Irae Simone (23') and Folau Fainga'a (33').

Christian Leali'ifano kicked all the four conversions as the visitors had a 3-28 lead heading into the break.

Waratahs showed better intent at the start of the second half and with forward pressure yielding result as Nick Phipps touched down in the 48th minute and Foley kicked the extras.

As the final 10 minutes kicked-off, Waratahs were trailing by 18 points but Adam Ashley-Cooper crossed the whitewash to give the hosts hope but his efforts were cancelled out when Thomas Cusack dotted down four minutes later.

Waratahs had the final say with Curtis Rona scoring the final try of the game but the damage was already done as Brumbies completed a 24-35 victory.
