Pete Samu and Tom Wright scored double as Brumbies overpowered Waratahs with a 38-11 win in their Super Rugby AU encounter at GIO Stadium on Saturday.

This is Brumbies' fifth win from six games as they reclaim the top place in the table while Waratahs are at third place.

Ryan Lonergan started the proceedings with a fifth minute try for Brumbies and the scrum-half also kicked the conversion to make it 7-0 but Will Harrison led Waratahs response with a penalty kick in the 19th minute.

Andy Muirhead scored Brumbies' second try in the 24th minute but once again Harrison kicked a three pointer followed by a try from Jack Dempsey as the teams finished the first half with a 12-11 scoreline.

As Waratahs struggled to score a point in the second half Samu and Wright scored two times apiece to take Brumbies' tally to 38 points as they completed another victory in the tournament.

Brumbies will face Force in the ninth round at GIO Stadium on 28th August while Waratahs will lock horns with Rebels at Leichhardt Oval on 29th August.
