Blues' Antonio Kirikiri has been cited for an alleged foul play during the recently concluded Super Rugby clash against Highlanders at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Kirikiri, who came off the bench in the 22nd minute was yellow-carded in the 53rd minute for a high tackle on Highlanders fly-half Lima Sopoaga and as a result was found a breach of Law 9.12 that deals with 'Physically abusing a player by striking them with his head'.

The decision costed heavily for Blues as Teihorangi Walden scored back to back tries to seal a 41-34 victory for Highlanders.

Kirikiri will now appear before a SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee on Sunday via a video conference.

Blues will line-up against Chiefs in the next round on 2nd March in Auckland.
