Bath Rugby have announced the signing of Russian international Valery Morozov with immediate effect.

The 6ft 3in prop will provide cover to Beno Obano, who has been ruled out of the remainder of 2021/22 season due to a knee injury.

He will join Bath from Russian club CSKA Moscow and has already started training with his new teammates.

The 27-year-old started his career with RC Zelenograd and also had represented Enisei-STM before joining Sale Sharks ahead of the 2019/20 season. He has gone on to make 37 appearances for Sharks and also enjoyed a Premiership Rugby Cup title during his two-year spell with the club.

Bath director of rugby Stuart Hooper is delighted with the addition of Morozov to the squad.

“Valery is a high-calibre prop with international experience," said Hooper to the club's official website.

“He has solid fundamentals including excellent scrummaging ability.

"His ball-carrying challenges defences and he will significantly add to our pack for the remainder of the season.”

Bath are languishing at the bottom of the Gallagher Premiership table after losing all their 10 matches. They will be locking horns with London Irish in the next round on 3rd January at Brentford Community Stadium.
