Scarlets have confirmed that Argentina international Tomás Lezana has left the club with immediate effect.

The news follows after Scarlets also lost the services of Scotland player Blade Thomson, who announced his retirement while Sione Kalamafoni is also set to leave the club at the end of the ongoing campaign.

The 29-year-old joined Scarlets in 2021 and has gone on to make 19 appearances for them scoring three tries.

Prior to his association with Scarlets, Lezana featured for Pampas XV, Jaguares and Western Force. He also represented Argentina at Under 18, Under 19 and Under 20 levels apart from featuring for them in over 30 Tests since making his international debut in 2014.

He will now join French second-tier side Montauban after being signed as a ‘medical joker’.

"We'd like to thank Tomas for his efforts as a Scarlet over the last couple of seasons," said head coach Dwayne Peel.

"We wish him well with his move to France."

Scarlets are positioned 14th in the United Rugby Championship table after managing five wins from 15 matches.
