Wasps captain Joe Launchbury to undergo surgery

Wasps have confirmed that skipper Joe Launchbury will undergo a surgery following his latest injury setback.

The England international sustained the blow during the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Bath Rugby where he was replaced in the 32nd minute and now will be going under the knife according to a statement released by the club.

"Joe Launchbury sustained a complete rupture of his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) during Sunday’s game against Bath Rugby," read the statement.

"He has had a consultation with a knee specialist, who has confirmed that he will require surgery.

"Everyone at Wasps wishes Joe all the best for a speedy recovery".

Wasps are positioned ninth in the Gallagher Premiership table with seven wins from 17 games and will face Harlequins in the 18th round at Twickenham Stoop on 9th May.
