Wales will miss the services of former skipper and lock Alun Wyn Jones for the upcoming Six Nations game against Scotland following a head injury.

The 37-year-old sustained the injury during the opening round Six Nations game against Ireland in the second half and failed a head injury assessment.

Meanwhile, prop Tomas Francis is also in doubt after sustaining a calf injury.

"I think we've always said we wanted to look at some players in the squad," said Gatland.

"There was an opportunity for those players to go out there and perform this afternoon.

"We will look at what players might potentially get an opportunity next week."

Having lost the opening game against Ireland with a 10-34 margin, Wales will now take on Scotland in the second round at Murrayfield Stadium on 11th February before facing England in the third round on 25th February.
