Wales international Nicky Robinson on Tuesday has announced his retirement from professional rugby bringing an end to a remarkable 15-year career.

Robinson represented Wales in 13 Tests between 2003 and 2009 and scored 42 points in it. He started his professional rugby career in 2001 with Cardiff RFC and has gone to be a part of Cardiff Blues, Gloucester, Wasps, Bristol and Oyonnax.

The 34-year-old joined Oyonax in 2015 on a three-year contract but has decided to end his career prematurely.

He has played 75 Premiership Rugby games having represented Gloucester (39) and Wasps (35) and went on to score 604 points which includes six tries, 71 conversions, 140 penalty kicks and four drop goals.

Robinson confirmed his decision to retire in the social media platform Twitter.

"I'd like to announce my retirement from rugby.

"The time is right for a new chapter in my life.I've loved the last 15 years-thank you rugby," said Robinson.

In his 15-year career, Robinson has gone to amass nearly 1,500 points for Cardiff Blues, Gloucester, Wasps and Bristol combined which makes him leading fly-half in the European rugby to date.

His elder brother, Jamie Robinson, who made 23 appearances for Wales also retired from professional rugby in 2013 because of injury.
