Two first-half tries from Tim Visser helped Edinburgh reclaim the 1872 Cup with a 20-8 Guinness Pro12 victory over Glasgow at Murrayfield.

Edinburgh had lost to Glasgow 16-6 at Scotstoun one week ago but this win saw them climb into seventh in the table.

Visser scored twice in the first half - the second of which came from an interception in his own 22 - to put Edinburgh into a 20-3 lead at the break, with Sam Hidalgo-Clyne converting both tries and landing two penalties.

Two minutes after the break, Glasgow scored a try through scrum-half Nikola Matawalu but they were unable to add any further points.

They had taken the lead early on when Finn Russell scored a penalty only for Hidalgo-Clyne to level the scores after 17 minutes.

He put Edinburgh ahead on 25 minutes before a four-minute spell turned the game in the home side's favour.

After Matawalu's kick was charged down, Edinburgh moved the ball from left to right where Visser stormed through to score.

Hidalgo-Clyne converted and he would have another shot at goal soon after. From the restart, Visser pounced on an ambitious pass by centre Pete Horne and sprinted home.

Hidalgo-Clyne duly added the extras to give Edinburgh a 17-points lead at the break.

Matawalu's cleverly collected his own chip ahead to touch down early in the second half to give Glasgow some hope, but a comeback never materialised any further.

The conversion was missed and the game then became scrappy as it neared its conclusion.

Hidalgo-Clyne had opportunities to further increase Edinburgh's lead but missed two penalties, the first shaving the crossbar from long range.
