Ugo Monye takes on the Urban Rugby Squad Challenge

Last week Premiership Rugby in partnership with BT Sport’s The Supporters Club and Restart Rugby launched the ‘Urban Rugby Squad’.

The initiative will engage 1,000 young people aged 14-16 from non-traditional rugby communities across England, giving them the opportunity to participate in regular sporting activity and personal development workshops that use rugby as inspiration.

As part of the launch, we have a video of ambassador for the initiative and former England rugby star Ugo Monye taking on the Urban Rugby Squad challenge which involved participants taking on a series of rugby challenges on an urban obstacle course against the clock.

Despite posting an impressive time, Ugo’s time was actually beaten by one of the young participants, Simone, who managed to beat Ugo by just over a second which is also captured on the video.

BT Sport Ambassador Ugo Monye was at the launch of the Urban Rugby Squad, a new partnership between BT Sport’s The Supporters Club, Restart Rugby, the Official Charity of The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA), and Premiership Rugby. The new initiative will run across all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs throughout the summer and will see young people aged 14-16 from disadvantaged communities across England given the opportunity to participate in regular sporting activity and personal development workshops that use rugby as inspiration.
