Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has revealed that Tadhg Furlong, James Ryan and Iain Henderson are set to return to training on Tuesday as they prepare to face Wales in the Six Nations opener against Wales on Saturday.

Furlong was sidelined with a calf injury but now has recovered along with Ryan (hamstring) and Henderson to be in contention for the weekend's game.

“Well, it’s there for all to see how they play the game,” Farrell told reporters. “All three of them can play 80 minutes, which is pretty rare in the modern day game.

“Playing the 80 minutes at the standard that they bring, week in, week out, is phenomenal to see.

“Do you know what? The thing is there are people that are pushing them as well and they realise that.

“And we’re very grateful to have nine front-row guys that are in our camp with us – they’ll be pushing every single day to push the standards on for all the group.”

Keith Earls (strain), Josh van der Flier (strain) and Joey Carbery (elbow) also have recovered from their respective injuries and have started to train with the squad.
