South Africa and Toulon wing Cheslin Kolbe has been sidelined for "several weeks" following a broken thumb.
Kolbe sustained the injury during Toulon's recently concluded European Challenge Cup match against Treviso last weekend where he was replaced at the start of the second half.
A statement released by Toulon revealed that the 28-year-old has successfully underwent a surgery on Wednesday.
“Cheslin Kolbe, who was injured in the last match [Toulon vs Benetton Treviso], will be kept out of action for several weeks,” read an official club statement from the French club.
“Victim of a broken thumb, the South African international underwent surgery yesterday, an operation which was successfully carried out. The entire Rugby Club Toulonnais team wishes Cheslin a very good recovery.”
Following their 36-17 win over Benetton in the round-of-16 game of the European Challenge Cup, Toulon will be locking horns with London Irish in the quarter-final on 8th May.
Toulon are also at the ninth position in the Top 14 table with 10 wins from 22 matches and will face Toulouse next on 24th April.
