Exeter Chiefs centre Henry Slade has been withdrawn from England's ongoing training camp in Portugal following a shoulder injury.

Slade suffered the blow during the recently concluded European Champions Cup game against Glasgow Warriors where he was replaced in the 63rd minute.

The 24-year-old will undergo further tests to assess the extent of damage but it is understood that he is likely to miss the start of the Six Nations 2018 campaign.

“Henry Slade has not travelled to Portugal for England’s training camp,” read a Rugby Football Union (RFU) statement.

“Slade will remain with Chiefs for further assessment of a shoulder injury he sustained on the weekend.”

England will face Italy in the tournament opener at Stadio Olimpico on 4th February.
