Australia international Sekope Kepu has been handed a three-week ban following his red card incident in the recently concluded clash against Scotland at BT Murrayfield Stadium.

Kepu was sent-off in the 38th minute when he mistimed a shoulder charge that struck Scotland's Hamish Watson on the head and the decision proved costly for the Wallabies as they went on to lose the encounter 53-24.

The 31-year-old was charged with an infringement of law 10.4 (h), which states 'a player must not charge into a ruck or maul. Charging includes any contact made without use of the arms, or without grasping a player' and appeared before a disciplinary panel on Tuesday.

Even though Kepu's actions warranted a six-week ban, the panel reduced it into half considering Kepu's contrition and previous clean disciplinary record.

With the Southern Hemisphere season coming to a conclusion, the panel decided to suspend Kepu until 4th March next year when he will miss the start of the Super Rugby season.
