Premiership Rugby will have its first ever female referee as Sara Cox has been confirmed as match official for the weekend's fixture.

Cox became the first female referee to be awarded a central contract by the Rugby Football Union in 2016 and last year she became the first female assistant referee in English rugby's top flight.

She also was the first woman to take charge of an English top-tier game in the Premiership Rugby Cup in 2018 in Northampton's 15-14 win over Wasps.

"Huge congratulations to Sara Cox," Premiership Rugby tweeted.

"She'll become the first woman to referee a #GallagherPrem league game on Saturday.

"Continually making history."

Widely regarded as the most competitive rugby union league in the world...it can only be the Gallagher Premiership.

The division is becoming more and more exciting as each year passes by so who will be lifting silverware at Twickenham in May?

At Talking Rugby Union, we aim to provide match reports and news together with our specially commissioned features and interviews.
