England coach Eddie Jones insisted that Sam Underhill will have to wait for his chance to represent the red rose team ahead of the squad announcement for the upcoming 2017 Six Nations tournament.

The 20-year-old flanker will become eligible to represent England after he is set to switch to Bath from Ospreys for the 2017/18 season. Underhill captained England at U18s level but moved to the Welsh region from Gloucester in 2015 and has made just 24 appearances for Ospreys till now.

Jones admitted that Underhill can be selected by invoking the special circumstance clause which allows players outside the Aviva Premiership to be considered for the England team but believes Six Nations will be too early for him.

"Sam is available now - he wants to play for an English club and has signed for one," Jones said.

"If we wanted to force the issue we could, but at this stage we'll probably look at considering him for the summer tour to Argentina because he hasn't done enough."

Jones is expected to announced the 34-man squad for England's Six Nations title defence on Friday morning and is likely to retain most of the players, who featured in the 13 consecutive wins registered last year under the 56-year-old.

"You're always looking for extra talent, new talent," Jones said.

"I was out in Argentina last week. I came back in Sunday morning and watched 11 games, trying to catch up with where each player is. I'm always looking for that X factor player.

"There's a couple of young guys coming through, whether they'll be right for this Six Nations I don't know, but there are some good young players out there."
