Rob Webber will make a return to Sale Sharks after signing a short-term contract with the Gallagher Premiership club.

Webber has made over 300 appearances in professional rugby that includes 212 games in the Premiership for Wasps, Bath Rugby and recently Sale Sharks combined.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond reckons Webber returning will bolster their front-row options as they aim to sign the 2019/20 season on a high after claiming the second place in the table with 11 wins from 18 matches.

“We have brought Rob back in as a precautionary measure, Webs was outstanding for us over four seasons and understands how we play to a tee," said Diamond.

"As we approach the business end of the season, we don’t want to get caught out with a lack of options in our pack and Rob will bring a huge amount of experience with him, along with fantastic support and guidance to He will Akker van der Merwe, Curtis Langdon and Ewan Ashman.

"We are certainly looking forward to welcoming the old boy back!”

Webber, who has played 16 times for England between 2012 and 2015 will join the club at their new training base in Carrington and will be part of their campaign for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.
