Racing 92 refuted claims suggesting an established deal to acquire England's fly-half Owen Farrell for the Top 14 league this summer.

The French club is coached by former England coach Stuart Lancaster under whom Farrell made his Test debut in 2012. Numerous reports in France revealed that the Top 14 club has expressed interest in signing the 32-year-old on a two-year contract considering his contract with Saracens is expiring at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Nevertheless, Racing have released a statement indicating that no agreement has been reached.

"Racing is regularly the subject of widespread speculation," the statement read.

"We are delighted with the appeal of our club Racing 92.

"However, we deny any agreement with the English player Owen Farrell."

Farrell has been associated with Saracens since his professional rugby debut in 2008 and won six Premiership titles with them in 2011, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2023 and three European Champions Cup titles in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

He has also led England to a third place in the recently concluded Rugby World Cup in France last year but has taken a break from international rugby currently to focus on his mental health.

Earlier, England head coach Steve Borthwick expressed hope that Farrell would return to England set up in future.

“We’re all hopeful he’ll return to the England team at some point soon, but that’s going to be a decision that Owen makes,” Borthwick said.

“I am really hopeful that he does return. I think we all hope, as England supporters we all hope he does - this is one of England’s greatest-ever players, greatest-ever captains.”
