Former Gloucester fly-half Tim Taylor has been appointed as the new backs coach of the English Premiership club replacing former England scrum-half Nick Walshe ahead of the upcoming Aviva Premiership season.

The 33-year-old joined Gloucester on loan from Nottingham during the 2009-10 season and made 41 appearances for the club before his retirement in 2014.

Taylor was forced to retire with a serious knee injury in March 2014 during the A League semi-final against Harlequins following which he took the role of skill and kicking coach with Gloucester.

"We're excited to confirm this afternoon that Tim Taylor has been appointed the club's new backs coach," Gloucester confirmed in a short statement on social media.

Dan Tobin, who was previously working with Leinster as fitness coach has also been drafted in replacing Paddy Anson as the new strength and conditioning coach.
