European Professional Club Rugby has confirmed that Munster team doctor Jamie Kearns will face a disciplinary hearing following his alleged comments on Saracens hooker Jamie George.

The incident happened in the 50th minute of the Champions Cup game between the two sides at Allianz Park and it is learnt that the alleged comments from Kearns on George's weight sparked the 30-man brawl.

The EPCR launched an investigation into the incident taking into the wordings of referee Pascal Gauzere and his assistants along with the standings of both the clubs following which they decided to summon Kearns for a disciplinary hearing.

"EPCR has decided to bring a misconduct complaint against the Munster Rugby Team Doctor, Dr Jamie Kearns.

"It is alleged that Dr Kearns directed an abusive comment, or comments, at the Saracens player, Jamie George, and that the comment, or comments, may have had the potential to bring the sport of rugby union, the Heineken Champions Cup, and/or EPCR into disrepute.

"In making the alleged comment, or comments, Dr Kearns breached the Disciplinary Rules of the 2019/20 EPCR Participation Agreement."

Saracens were trailing Munster by 3-6 before the incident but the brawl certainly spurred the defending champions as they completed a 15-6 win to revive their campaign.

Meanwhile, Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond will also attend a disciplinary hearing for comments on French referee Mathieu Raynal following their 20-22 defeat to Exeter Chiefs on 8th December.
